Verizon Wireless Motorola Droid Unboxing and Hardware Tour Video

Verizon Wireless Motorola Droid Unboxing and Hardware Tour Video

It’s always nice to get a phone before it’s released to the public so you can play with while other people are still waiting. And that’s what the unboxing videos are for. Today we’re going to share about the unboxing and hardware tour video of the newly launched Verizon Motorola Droid which will be available on November 6. This video was made by folks at Pocketnow who are lucky to get the phone. Enjoy the video!

This is a great video and worth to watch. It’s a 8 minutes video covering the unboxing process and the hardware tour. It also shows the comparison of the Droid with other devices such as HTC Hero and HTC Imagio. In case you are unable to watch the video for some reason, here is the highlights for your convenient:

  • Droid is the first device to run Android 2.0 operating system. However, HTC also confirmed that the HTC Hero will get an upgrade to Android 2.0 with Sense UI
  • Hardware Features: WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, 854×480 screen. The screen is capacitive touch and multitouch doesn’t seem to be supported in the browser
  • There’s a Driving Precautions inside the box to include turn-by-turn guidance. This is applied to new Google Maps Navigation
  • Keyboard slider not spring assisted; satisfying click sound when in place
  • Dual-press shutter button controls 5 megapixel camera with autofocus, LED flash and video recording capability. The video recorded at 25fps in 720×480 resolution
  • 16 GB micro SDHC card included with the device
  • Contigous keyboard is comfortable to type on
  • Scary “Droid” sound goes off when you get new email
  • Compared to Sprint HTC Hero which has HTC Sense UI, the Droid is almost the same thickness, a little bit longer, wider and havier
  • Compared to HTC Imagio which runs on Windows Mobile 6.5 from Microsoft with TouchFLO 3D, the Droid is a little bit thiner and shorter.

So seems like the Verizon Motorola Droid becomes the hottest smartphone at the moment and based on what i read from several blogs, this phone is something that many people are waiting for.  But my question is, is it the phone it self or the Android 2.0 platform that has amazed many people. What do you think?
