The newly announced Sony Ericsson Xperia mini and Xperia mini pro are absolutely mini in size but not with the capability and performance. However how mini they are and how good are the features, you have to wait until August 2011 when the phone available on the market worldwide. So, while waiting for the phone to be released, let’s see couple of Xperia mini and Xperia min pro hands-on videos below including the demo of the new features “Facebook Inside Xperia“.

Along with the announcement of Xperia Mini, Xperia Mini Pro and Xperia Acro, Sony Ericsson also brings new deep integration of Facebook into their system called “Facebook Inside Xperia”. This new feature will debut on the new Xperia mini products and will become standard features for upcoming software update to the Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY and other handsets in the Xperia family. So, what’s the “Facebook Inside Xperia” is all about?

It’s basically a new way of using Facebook features on your Xperia phone which now directly integrated as the Xperia features. The Sony Ericsson blog noted some main features of the “Facebook Inside Xperia”. Check out also the Facebook Inside Xperia home page.

Single sign on to Facebook – when you start your phone for the first time, you will be prompted an option to log in to Facebook and create permanent connection to it. From there you don’t need to login to Facebook or other similar apps to use Facebook. The good thing is, you can also choose whether to set this option automatically or turn specific parts off.

Contact sync with Facebook – besides the contact sync between your local contacts with Facebook contacts just like on current Facebook app, this new integration added more Facebook info on your phone contact. In this way, you can see your friend’s status, photos or likes just by looking up from your phone book.

Facebook photos in your phone Gallery - in addition to the local pictures and other pictures gallery like Picasa pictures, now you will have your Facebook photos and Facebook photos you’re tagged in directly on your phone gallery.

Like-button on Music player – now you can have new experience in enjoying music on your phone. With the new like-button on the music player you can share the music you are listening to your Facebook friends by clicking the “like” on the song. From there your friends can learn more about those songs and also listen to it for some songs or even buy it. This works through the Sony Ericsson Track-ID service.

Media discovery widget – there will a dedicated widget included to show you the videos and music that your friends shared on their Facebook wall including YouTube, Spotify etc which you can view easily too.

Well, it’s no doubt that Facebook is a must have features or app for mobile phone nowadays. A report even said that up to 50% of consumers app time is used in the Facebook app. So, no wonder from now on will see this kind of integration on more new smartphones.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro

Both Xperia Pro and Neo are powered by Android 2.3 Gingerbread and Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 at 1GHz processor. Also will be equipped with 3.7-inch FWVGA capacitive touchscreen with 854×480 pixels and scratch-resistant, built-in HDMI, aGPS, DLNA and microSD card support upto 32GB (8GB included). The Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA Engine delivers exceptional visual brilliance and a crystal clear image which enhances the overall entertainment experience. While the Sony Exmor R for mobile sensor enable the capture of high quality, bright pictures and HD videos even in low light.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo

Specifically for the Xperia Pro, it introduces the subtle but fast Type & Send functionality eliminating the need to open a didicated app for each type of message, and Smart Keyboard that triggers predictive messaging actions automatically when the users slides out the keyboard. Morevoer, it also provides specific features for business including syncing your email, calendar and contacts in a secure way and the pre-loaded Office Suite Pro.

Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processor at 1Ghz and embedded Adreno GPU graphics processor which capable to deliver silky smooth 60fps play-back 3D mobile gaming and Web browsing, the Xperia Play will run on Android Gingerbread 2.3. Sony Ericsson also claimed that the phone will have minimal power consumption to enable users enjoy long hours of battery life and game time.

In portrait mode, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play offers all benefits that people have come to expect from Sony Ericsson’s existing range of Xperia smartphone including 5 megapixel camera, 4-inch multi-touch screen and great social networking features. While when slide-out, you’ll find the gaming control with a digital D pad, two analogue touch pad, two shoulder buttons and the four PlayStation icons: circle, cross, square and triangle.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play will be the first Android smartphone to feature Sony’s PlayStation Suite, a gaming platform for cell phones that will eventually bring an extensive developer-friendly gaming environment to smartphone operating systems. At the moment, it will let people to play PS One games on the Xperia Play.

There are few carriers that are already confirmed to get the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play including O2 in the UK, Vodafone, Orange UK, T-Mobile UK, Three and Rogers Canada. I haven’t seen any info whether SoftBank here in Japan will also get this Xperia Play.

Reportedly, this info came from Sony Ericsson support representative replying an email from someone who asked about the time of the Android 2.2 update for Xperia X10. The email is inTurkish so you probably don’t understand, but more or less it means something like “SE X10 will get the 2.2 update at the second quarter of 2011. Works are still going on for 2.2 version. For further info , you may visit bla bla..”.

An official Sony Ericsson support person on the same forum  said that he’s investigating the email that was sent and that they have not NOT made any announcements concerning 2.2 on any current Android devices.

An interesting word “Free X10″ come up during the boot process meaning that the Xperia X10 supposed to get Android Froyo update instead of the Eclair. Anyway, my question is why this kind of video always made in darkness as if there’s something to hide?

As for the specifications, the phone will come with 4.2 inch display instead of 4.3 inches as mentioned before. To answer your curiosity regarding the dimension, it’s 124.5 x62.5 x8.7 mm. However since the body doesn’t come with the same shape, the 8.7 mm is the thinnest part around the middle.

In addition to the 8 megapixel, the camera will be equipped with Sony Exmor R CMOS sensor. While for the display, it will come with  Full Wide Video Graphics Array (FWVGA) Super Vivid display.

So let’s hope Sony Ericsson will come with official words about this phone soon.

In addition to the 4.3 inch display, HDMI output and the “very, very slim” body, the display is said to be the AMOLED touch-scren with 1080×720 resolution with more clear and vivid display. While although i can’t guess how thin it is from the picture, but some sources said that it’s around 10mm thick and some more said around 3mm thiner than the Xperia X10. The Xperia X12 is currently running the Android 2.1 but expected to run Android Gingerbread 2.3 when it’s launched.

Another thing is, the Xperia X12 will come with 1.5GHz TI OMAP 4 processor, built-in 12 megapixel camera with 1080p video capture and playback capability, three-axis Gyroscope, Strengthen Timescape and Mediascape function. The Xperia X12 is expected for January 14, 2011 release.

Well, of course nothing of those are confirmed yet. For the moment let’s just keep it in rumor mills until we got more info while hoping that Sony Ericsson can do better now so they can bring the phone on-schedule.
