As you probably know that the iPad 2 will be available starting from March 11. The hardware it self will be offered at the same price with the original iPad, but how about the Data Plans? For those of you who plans to get the iPad 2, this info must be something that you really want to know.

In addition to the original iPad which is only supported AT&T, the iPad 2 now also supported by Verizon. According to AllThingsD, Verizon will offer prepaid monthly plans for the iPad 2, 3G version in several options: 1GB ($20), 3GB ($35), 5GB ($50) and 10GB ($80). Meanwhile AT&T is still going to apply it’s previous Data Plan which is 250MB ($15) and 2GB ($25). However, if users exceed their limit they will be charged $10 for additional 1GB usage with no contractual term.

Let’s take a look at the following table for more details.

Well, it’s all depend on your preference. Despite all these pricing schemes, the network support is also one of the factor that you need to consider. So, let’s wait in the next few days and surely we’ll see the official pricing scheme for this Data Plans.

A mysterious new Android device has hit FCC codenamed IHDT56MJ1. Looking at the naming convention which is matching with the one seen on recent Motorola handsets like the Atrix 4G, it’s possible that this supposed to be the Motorola Droid X 2. It basically has CDMA, EVDO and 802.11n Wi-Fi. Moreover, the CDMA radio indicates that it might be headed to Verizon but it’s unlikely to be the Droid Bionic.

There’s also the short term confidential letter attached to the filing showing a request from Motorola to FCC to keep photos, the manual and other revealing details a secret for 180 days from the February filing. It means the device is expected for mid-August launch or over one year after the original Droid X launch.

Speaking about the Droid X 2, it’s expected to be a large, Verizon-friendly which is similar to Atrix with a 4.3-inch 540×960 screen, a dual-core Tegra 2 processor and 8 megapixel camera. In addition, it will also use an updated version of the MotoBlur interface.

The third generation of RIM’s touchscreen device BlackBerry Storm 3 just caught on the wild in Cellebrite, the Verizon Wireless’ internal system used by technicians to transfer information between phones. The Storm 3 is listed as BlackBerry 9570. This phone has been previously rumored for November release. If that’s true, it’s going to be a big year end for RIM.

The BlackBerry Storm 3 9570 will run the BlackBerry 6 OS. However sadly to say that it will still feature a Sure Press touchscreen like the previous Storm 2. In addition it also has 5 megapixel camera with Auto Focus. Other specs have not confirmed yet.

A hot rumor about the hot Android phone Motorola DROID X just made the website of the rumor source down. I’m not sure if it’s been hacked or just server problem due to overload traffic. But anyway, seems like all DROID X users have been waiting for so long to get the Android 2.2 Froyo and it suddenly becomes a huge breaking news for them.

I just tried to open the source of the rumor www.mydroidworld.com and unfortunately it can’t be accessed but there’s a message said,

“We tried running Froyo on this server since it worked so well on our phone….long story short…it didn’t work!…hahaha.”

So, you guess what’s happening! But basically it’s about the rumor that the Motorola DROID X will get the Android Froyo in less than 24 hours. I guess either the server is overloaded, or some people who is disappointed just did something wrong with the server.

Well, doesn’t matter if this is true or not but you can check it from your phone if there’s any update (Menu > Settings > About Phone). But for now you may check this video below. It’s a Motorola DROID running Android 2.2 Froyo posted few weeks ago.

Spencer Webb, an antenna engineer and also the president of AntennaSys, a mobile device antenna design and consulting firm recently talked about the antenna design for the rumored CDMA Verizon’s iPhone. According to him, supposing that the rumor is true, Apple is likely won’t change the antenna design of the CDMA iPhone at least for this time.

“The antenna design is architecturally fixed in the design, and it would take them a while to make whatever the next design is.”

The most possible reason for this is the time-span since the antenna issues until the expected launch of the CDMA iPhone which is January 2011 is somehow incredibly short from the hardware design perspective. So, Webb is pretty confident that the CDMA iPhone will be more or less a clone to the iPhone 4 including all the advantages and potential issues.

In the last few weeks, the CDMA iPhone has been widely rumored will be headed for Verizon. People then speculating that it could be a right time for Apple to fix the iPhone 4 antenna design to avoid the dropped-call and poor-reception issues. But considering that Apple is adoption a three year product cycle for it’s hardware and engineering design, Apple will keep the iPhone 4′s design for several years including whatever next products will be.

A rumor said that Apple is working on the CDMA iPhone 4 due to large CDMA chipsets orders from Qualcomm. The phone is expected to release sometimes in January 2011. Currently the phone is at the EVT stage (engineering verification test) before the DVT stage (device verification test).

However, John Gruber, the person behind this info said that none of this is a sure thing including the carriers that will offer the phone. The CDMA iPhone could have nothing to do with Verizon specifically just like what previously rumored. Instead, the phone could be for Sprint, or for various international CDMA carriers.

Looking at the expected release date, CES 2011 could be the event where the CDMA iPhone will be announced as the Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg will deliver the opening keynote. If all these are true, it means AT&T iPhone exclusivity will be over while Verizon will start a new era.

But there are two interesting questions. First, is Verizon really want to bring in a new brand while they are now known for the Motorola Droid and enjoying great success with this phone. The second probably, is the CDMA iPhone 4 will fix the antenna problem? It’s interesting to wait, isn’t it?
