Nokia recently conducted a poll about the top drainers of your phone’s battery power. The result was taken based on the response of visitors from the website where the poll was conducted. And the result is quite surprising as the “Talk” and “Messaging” are not the top drainers as expected before. Instead “Web Browsing” is chosen by 31.36% of responders as the top drainers of phone’s battery power.

Of course this result is very subjective based on the users’ experience. And what i think is, “Web Browsing” was chosen slightly because people are likely to spend more time browsing than making a phone call or send text messaging. Moreover, if someone browsing the internet using Wi-Fi also will consume more powers.

On the second place is the “Home Screen” which is probably include activities such as unlocking your phone’s home screen, scrolling menus, pressing buttons, checking time, etc. The “GPS apps” which i supposed to consume a lot of powers is on the third position.

The Talk which is previously predicted to be the highest power drainer is chosen by only 12 per cent, similar to “Music Playback”. While “Messaging” only takes 7 per cent of the power consumption.

So, seems like people have changed their way of using mobile phones now. Instead of just using it to make a phone call or text message, people want to go beyond that including web browsing and other usage.

I’ll start with one simple question, “Do you satisfy with your existing mobile device?”. I guess most people would say not really. One of the reason is regarding the input interface of the device. Most of the time people doesn’t put this into consideration when buying a mobile device. Nokia recently running a poll about this.

The question of the poll is, “What’s your perfect mobile input interface”. Nokia names few type of user such as purely a texter, an all-calling, all-surfing, all app-downloading but the ideal choice surely depends on what people need to achieve. The vote was started at the beginning of this week and still open. I just made a vote and so far the result is not much defferent with what Nokia team got few times ago.

Most people voted the “Touchscreen combined with QWERTY keyboard” as the most perfect input interface followed by “Compact QWERTY” on the second place. And the interesting is the “Touchscreen” doesn’t event voted as the third which is the “Numeric keypad”. So for those of you who has a touchscreen device, you better think once again whether you have chosen the best device as what you need.

Nokia use a Video Polling with Nokia devices as the sample. But i’m sure this also represented another brand and model of mobile devices. Nokia didn’t mentioned exactly how many people has participated on the poll but they only said hundreds. Check also the video below of the upcoming Nokia device N97 which will have a touchscreen combined with the QWERTY keyboard.
