Almost exactly one month after the announcement, finally we got new update about the new HP webOS devices: HP Pre 3, HP Veer and HP TouchPad. These devices are now available for pre-order from a UK reseller KingOfGadgets.co.uk. However, seems like those devices are still available in limited number only. The last time we checked to the website said that the HP Pre 3 is already in ‘Out of Stock’ status. So, you better be hurry or just wait until more stocks available.

Despite this limited stock issue, at least you know now the pricing for these webOS devices. And if you want to get it from other places, i’m sure it would be more or less similar. As you can see on the website, the unlock version of HP Pre 3 if offered at £499.00 or exactly the same price with the HP Veer. While for the tablet HP TouchPad, you can get it for £699.00.

At the webOS event, HP has just bring a new vision for HP webOS by introducing three new HP webOS devices in three different size: HP TouchPad, HP Veer and HP Pre 3.
There’s also something called “A6UpdateStage” mentioned on the code which is probably something related to internal hardware. I hope this “A6″ is not something related to the Palm UP383562A A6 Battery which is kind of old accessories.

So for the moment let’s just keep that in the rumor mill and see how HP transforms their hardware expertise to Palm.

Despite this great news, we also have to say sorry to Palm Pixi’s users knowing that the Adobe Flash support won’t be available for Pixi or Pixi Plus. At least that’s what we can see from the Palm Pre 2 Press release few days ago.

(6) The Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Beta is compatible only with Palm Pre devices; not compatible with Pixi or Pixi Plus.

Well this could be a little disapointment but still a good news though.

The newly announced Palm Pre 2 initially will be available beginning on Friday in France from SFR and followed by Verizon Wireless in the US next. The unlocked UMTS version of Pre 2 will also be available for developers in US. But an interesting info posted recently showing the other two versions of Palm Pre 2 listed on FCC. It’s the CDMA and North American GSM/UMTS version.

The picture on the left above is the P102EWW and on the right is the P102UNA. According to the source, the name “P102″ indicates the Pre 2 it self while “EWW” is for CDMA and “UNA” is for North American GSM/UMTS. However, sadly to say that the UNA model will not come with AWS capability which means users on T-Mobile will only able to enjoy the Pre 2 at 2G speeds.

The webOS is now no longer belong to Palm. By the time of the webOS 2.0 and Palm Pre 2 announcement, the Palm webOS has been rebranded as HP webOS. If you go to the Palm’s website and the Palm’s Developer Portal they no longer use “Palm webOS” name, instead they now use the “HP webOS 2.0″ name and “HP Palm” logo on the top left of the page.

It’s make sense though in that way HP exercised their brand and power into Palm’s products. But the next question is, will it be only for the Operating Sytem or HP also have plans to rebrand all next Palm’s products including handsets and take off the “Palm” name completely? If that’s happened, it probably would affect the way how people see and use the products.

So for those of you webOS and Palm fans, do you love webOS and Palm device because of the “Palm” name or the brand is not a big deal as long as it delivers great hardware and functionalities?

HP today announced the much anticipated update to it’s platform Palm webOS 2.0. Along with the webOS 2.0 announcement, HP also introduced the latest devices in their handsets the Palm Pre 2 smartphone. The Palm Pre 2 will be the first device to run webOS 2.0 and will be available on Friday in France from SFR and scheduled to be available in the coming months in the US from Verizon Wireless and in Canada. The unlocked UMTS version of Pre 2 will also be available to purchase for developers in United States.

Palm Pre 2 is the first Palm phone with a gigahertz processor and features a 5 megapixel camera, a glass screen and a sleeker, streamlined design with a combination of a vivid touchscreen and a slide-out keyboard. Palm Pre 2 will be a great combination with webOS 2.0 and all it’s great new features including the True Multitasking and Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Beta support.

Below is the complete list of webOS 2.0 features highlight:

True Multitasking – Pause a game, tap an email notification, check your calendar, read a restaurant review, send an email reply, then switch back to the game without closing anything.(1,2) webOS lets you easily manage multiple open applications and notifications using natural touch gestures. New in webOS 2.0, Stacks logically groups together your open apps so they work the way you do. Whether you’re reading email or planning a night on the town, Stacks keeps related items together so managing multiple tasks is even easier.

Just Type – Start an email, create a message, update your status, search your favorite websites – all before you’ve even opened an app.(1) With webOS 2.0, whenever you want to do something on your phone – whether it’s emailing, texting, searching or almost anything – just type. And Just Type is open to developers, so they can integrate with the search function and add their own user-customizable shortcuts, called Quick Actions.

HP Synergy – webOS was the first mobile OS to connect you seamlessly to multiple web services. With the Synergy feature, you just have to sign in to your Facebook, Google, Microsoft® Exchange, LinkedIn and Yahoo! accounts and your information automatically populates your phone.(3) webOS 2.0 will extend the support for Synergy so developers can easily plug new Messaging, Contacts and Calendar application sources directly into the core webOS experiences.(4)

Exhibition – A new way to use your webOS phone, Exhibition lets you run apps designed specifically for the Palm Touchstone Charging Dock, turning charge time into useful time.(4, 5) Set your phone on the dock and Exhibition launches automatically, showing you anything from today’s agenda to a slideshow of your Facebook photos. Exhibition will enable developers to display aspects of their existing app experience or create specialized apps for use when users have their webOS device in charge mode on the charging dock.

Adobe® Flash® Player 10.1 Beta – With version 2.0, webOS now supports a beta of Adobe Flash Player 10.1 in the browser, which provides access to rich, Flash based web content.(6)

webOS 2.0 also includes many more new features, including the following:

Favorites – With webOS 2.0, you can tag your favorite contacts so they appear as favorites in Phone and Contacts views. When you search for them by name, they instantly show up at the top of the Contacts, Email, Messaging and Phone apps. Favorites make it simple to get in touch fast.

Skype Mobile™ (Verizon Wireless only) – For Verizon Wireless customers, webOS 2.0 supports Skype-to-Skype calls and messaging while in the United States to anywhere in the world, and low-rate calls to international landlines and cell phones.

Text Assist – webOS 2.0 offers greatly expanded capabilities to spell check, auto correct, set up macros and customize the dictionary.

Quickoffice Connect Mobile Suite – An all-new document viewer from the leading provider of mobile document viewers offers support for Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents and provides integration with a variety of services, including Google Docs and Dropbox.

Facebook 2.0 – Available via the Palm App Catalog, Facebook 2.0 will support Facebook IM via Synergy in the Messaging application,(4) as well as Stacks, status updates via Quick Action and the Exhibition feature.

Browser – The browser adds support for more HTML5 features, including geolocation support. OpenSearch plugin support makes it easy to add your favorite websites to Just Type web search.

Messaging – The unified Messaging app in webOS 2.0 adds Yahoo! IM and buddy management. Customers can now connect to their buddies through SMS, MMS, Google Talk, AIM and Yahoo! IM.

VPN – webOS 2.0 supports the most popular ways to connect to a corporate network, including IPsec and Cisco AnyConnect mobile optimized VPN, which supports SSL (TLS and DTLS).

App Catalog – The redesigned Palm App Catalog makes finding and discovering great apps even easier.(7) And the new Software Manager helps you keep your apps up-to-date.

Launcher – A redesigned app launcher lets you add, label and reorder launcher pages.

Phone – The webOS 2.0 Phone app lets you easily dial your favorites and offers reverse area code lookup and Skype Mobile integration (Skype Mobile for Verizon Wireless only).

Accounts – The new Accounts app provides a single place to manage all your Synergy accounts.

Bluetooth® keyboards – webOS now supports Bluetooth keyboards and Bluetooth SPP peripherals, enabling applications such as barcode readers and realty lock boxes.

A host of developer features – In addition to Exhibition, Just Type and Synergy APIs, webOS 2.0 adds Node.JS, enabling developers to create services in JavaScript. They also can now use the webOS Plug-In Development Kit (PDK) to combine C/C++ with web technologies in a single app.

For the second time, the mysterious device codenamed Roadrunner and webOS 2.0 popped up in a Metrix developer log. And this time it comes with “HD” suffix. Looking at the log data, the HD is probably something related to the 640×960 screen resolution or could be the name of the device it self. Would it be the Palm Pre 2 or completely new device Palm Roadrunner? Sounds weird isn’t it?

The Roadrunner device spotted for the first time last week on the same Metrix logs. It was a webOS developer who created an app with Foursquare reported this info. And this time, the Roadrunner comes again tweeted by KillinItLLC, the developer of popular game Cloud Hopper.

Check out the chart of the Metrix developer logs below:

The following info could make this Roadrunner thing become more real:

Phone Arena recently published an “unofficial” Verizon upcoming phones which included Palm Pre 2 for October release

Our source indicates that we might see the Palm Pre 2 doing its thing at this time, however, every bit of info regarding this possible successor seems to be held pretty tightly right now.

Jon Rubinstein with an interview with Fortune magazine recently affirmed that webOS 2.0 will be available for download later this year.

Another hint by Jon Rubinstein said that Palm is also developing hardware in an aggressive manner.

As October is coming soon, it’s really interesting to see what Palm will bring for the first time after the HP acquisition.
