The BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac is not far away. Though it’s not yet officially launched but some people are already playing with that like what the BlackBerry team did with the v1.0 of the software. And recently they just posted some screenshots detailing the software including features and options available. So let’s take a look at it.

Basically the BlackBerry Desktop Software v1.0 will come with the following features and options:

The Welcome Sheet – Just like other Desktop Sync software, the Welcome sheet will come up when you connect your smartphone to the computer. In the Welcome Sheet you will be able to select whether to sync your device to one or multiple computers. Besides you can also set the location of the Music storage.

Summary Screen and Device Options – In the Summary screen you can see the quick overview of the device connected to the computer. This summary includes the info about the latest sync and backup. There’s also the Device Options button on the summary screen to let you go to the more advance settings of the device such as changing the name as well as configure the device to sync automatically when the BlackBerry smartphone is connected and check for software updates. Besides you can also set the backup options and the media files storage from the Device Options screen.

Synchronizing – The synchronizing screen divided into two sections. The left panel contains all information categories and the right panel reflects the settings for each category.

Updating Device Software – Just like the Windows version, in the Mac version users won’t need to install anything on their computer to update their BlackBerry device software. The notification will pop up when a new update is available. The Update Device Software also includes the option to install/remove applications

Backup and Restore – The Backup screen comes with the option to choose whether to have a full or a partial backup including to set the encryption of the backup file. The backup files now have a new extension, .bbb, stands for BlackBerry Backup file which will be used by the new and upcoming version of BlackBerry Desktop Software. However users are still able to restore any previous format with .ipd extension.

As some of you probably knows that the BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac was leaked few days ago. Even the beta version of the software already available to download. And yesterday, someone from BlackBerry accidentally published an announcement on RIM’s official BlackBerry notes page on Facebook saying that the software was available before removed just few times after that.

And later BlackBerry made an announcement on Twitter apologized about that mistake and confirmed that the BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac is NOT yet launched.

It’s a little bit unacceptable that a company like RIM can make a mistake like that. But anyway, Vodafone Ireland in their forum also did the same thing about the Nokia N97 Mini few weeks ago. So it becomes such a trends anyway, just kidding. At least from this we know that the software is not so far away before it official release.
