BlackBerry Bold 9930/9900

BlackBerry 9930/9900 is a CDMA/GSM hybrid with a 2.8-inch capacitive touch screen and a 1.2 Ghz processor. The device also equipped with a 5 MP camera, 768MB of RAM and 8GB built-in memory. This is the first BlackBerry device to launch with the newly released BlackBerry OS 7 and to support NFC technology. The BlackBerry 9930/9900 was announced on May 2, 2011 and expected to be available on Q3 2011.

Motorola XPRT

Announced on May 5, 2011, Motorola XPRT is a dual-mode smartphone capable for roaming internationally on GSM networks. It’s powered by Android 2.2 Froyo with MOTOBLUR, 3.1-inches touchscreen display, 5MP camera, 1Ghz processor and Adobe Flash 10 support.

Motorola Titanium

Announced at the same day with the Motorola XPRT, Motorola Titanium is the Sprint’s successor to the i1 running Android 2.1 Eclair with 3.1-inches touchscreen display, 5MP camera, Push-to-talk support and dust, shock, vibration, low pressure, solar radiation, high temperature and low temperature resistance.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini

Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini announced on May 6, 2011 and expected to be available on Q3 2011. It runs on Android 2.3 and powered by a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, 3-inches touchscreen, 5MP camera with HD video capture capability. According to Sony Ericsson, the Xperia Mini is the smallest device in the world that can record HD video.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini Pro

Announced at the same day with the Xperia Mini, it runs on Android 2.3 euipped with a slide out landscape QWERTY keyboard and a 1 GHz Snapdragon processor. It has a 3-inches touchscreen and a 5MP camera capable for HD video capture. The Xperia Mini Pro is expected to be availble on Q3 2011.

Sharp Aquos SH-12C

Sharp Aquos SH-12C is specifically released for Japanese market. Announced at May 11, 2011, Sharp Aquos SH-12C comes with a tremendous hardware specs including dual 8 megapixel camera capable to capture 3D photos and 3D videos. It’s also powered by 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, 4.2-inches qHD (540×960) 3D display. The Sharp Aquos SH-12C available from NTT Docomo Japan started from May 20, 2011.

Part of big announcements from Google during the Android-specific keynote at Google I/O is the Android Honeycomb 3.1. On this first major upgrade to the Android tablet OS, Google brings some tweaks and optimizations over the Android 3.0. These are include resizable homescreen widgets and USB host functionality that will give users ability to plug in their digital camera and transfer file directly to their tablet or even use mice, keyboards, and game controllers. Another enhancements including more robust multi-tasking and app-switching mechanism for more fluid transitions and reduced crashes.

• Open Accessory API. This new API provides a way for Android applications to integrate and interact with a wide range of accessories such as musical equipment, exercise equipment, robotics systems, and many others.
• USB host API. On devices that support USB host mode, applications can now manage connected USB peripherals such as audio devices. input devices, communications devices, and more.
• Input from mice, joysticks, and gamepads. Android 3.1 extends the input event system to support a variety of new input sources and motion events such as from mice, trackballs, joysticks, gamepads, and others.
• Resizable Home screen widgets. Developers can now create Home screen widgets that are resizeable horizontally, vertically, or both.
• Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) Applications can now receive notifications when external cameras are attached and removed, manage files and storage on those devices, and transfer files and metadata to and from them.
• Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) API for audio. Developers can directly manage on-demand or interactive data streaming to enable VOIP, push-to-talk, conferencing, and audio streaming.

The Android Honeycomb 3.1 is now being seeded to the Verizon-bound 3G version of the Motorola XOOM and should be followed by other devices including Google TV with Android Market support coming this summer.

No more mistery left to the upcoming Verizon’s Motorola Droid X2. After beeing rumored with many speculations, finally an official spec sheet revealed the full specifications of the Motorola X2. With this sheet came out, we can expect that the official launch is imminent. It’s probably next month or perhaps earlier than that. And the price should be below $200.

The Motorola Droid X2 is basically an Android 2.3 Froyo device, possibly shipped with Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It has 4.3-inch display with qHD resolution, 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor and 8 megapixel camera. The RAM/ROM will be the same with the original Droid X at 512MB/8GB. However, the Tegra 2 chipset gives higher-quality video playback (1080p over HDMI) and also higher frame rates between 26-30fps for both capture and playback.

For the connectivity, it still has the same EV-DO Rev.A mobile broadband. Additionally, there are also Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, Wi-Fi 802/11a, sensros including proximity, light, accelerometer and e-compass.

Sprint just unveiled two new Motorola Android smartphones, the Motorola XPRT and the Motorola Titanium. These two handsets are intended for Business users and come with a full QWERTY keyboard with BlackBerry-style buttons. The Motorola XPRT will be launched on June 5th at $129.99 on contract, while the Motorola Titanium doesn’t have any info regarding pricing yet the availability.

Sprint has earned top honors in the competitive business marketplace – winning the #1 ranking for overall satisfaction for wireless voice service providers and a matching #1 ranking in overall satisfaction for wireless data service providers in a survey of large business decision makers, according to a comprehensive study by Yankee Group and Mobile Enterprise Magazine (www.mobileenterprisemag.com).¹ The study indicated that Sprint ranked first in overall satisfaction in wireless voice and data, and in voice services, ranked first or second in nine of the 10 categories among large business customers.

An OEM part retailer named Global Redirects Parts recently posted some pictures which were claimed as the next Motorola Android phones Motorola Droid 3. The site also posted a clear comparison between this new handset with the previous two Droid and Droid 2 which makes this seems to be true.

The first thing that changed on the new Droid is the display size which is now 4.0 inch compared to 3.7-inch both on the previous two Droid. Moreover, the resolution is also now better which changed from 480 x 540 to 540 x 960.

The next thing is, now the Droid 3 has front facing camera. However, this front facing camera will be only between 0.3MP and 1.5MP like in iPad and Samsung T959V, not a good one i supposed.

The last interesting thing is probably the change of navigation buttons which is more like the first Droid. Well, it’s strange that this Droid 3 is already available in OEM. If that’s true, seems like it will not take long time for this phone to hit the market.

A mysterious new Android device has hit FCC codenamed IHDT56MJ1. Looking at the naming convention which is matching with the one seen on recent Motorola handsets like the Atrix 4G, it’s possible that this supposed to be the Motorola Droid X 2. It basically has CDMA, EVDO and 802.11n Wi-Fi. Moreover, the CDMA radio indicates that it might be headed to Verizon but it’s unlikely to be the Droid Bionic.

There’s also the short term confidential letter attached to the filing showing a request from Motorola to FCC to keep photos, the manual and other revealing details a secret for 180 days from the February filing. It means the device is expected for mid-August launch or over one year after the original Droid X launch.

Speaking about the Droid X 2, it’s expected to be a large, Verizon-friendly which is similar to Atrix with a 4.3-inch 540×960 screen, a dual-core Tegra 2 processor and 8 megapixel camera. In addition, it will also use an updated version of the MotoBlur interface.
