Acer LIQUID: World’s First Android 1.6 Smartphone Announced

Acer today just made the Acer Liquid series A1 official. The A1 is the first Android smartphone equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdradon processor and the latest release of the Android 1.6 aka Donut. No further details about the price or the availability date of the phone so far.

In summary the Acer Liquid A1 will have the following specs:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 1Ghz chipset
  • Android 1.6 aka Donut Operating System
  • 800×480 WVGA capacitive toucscreen
  • 5 megapixel camera with geo-tagging, ISO, self-timer and autofocus
  • Improved power management for longer battery lifes
  • New user interface and integration with social media such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Picasa and Flickr in the address book
