INQ announced two social mobile phones which previously rumored as “Facebook Phone”. These two Android phones called INQ Cloud Touch and INQ Cloud Q, both are running Android 2.2 Froyo with a Gingerbread update promised someday in the future. These phones are the first devices ever to have their UI wrapped around Facebook.
Physically, the INQ Cloud Touch and Cloud Q share the similar hardware specicifications. Powered by Qualcomm 7227 chipset processor at 600MHz, the INQ Cloud Touch features a 3.5-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 320×480, while it’s QWERTY brother has a 2.6-inch display. Other specs include 5 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi b/g, GPS, FM Radio, accelerometer, compass, ambient light and proximity sensors, microUSB chargin and 3.5mm audio jack. Unfortunately, the phone only comes with 4MB internal memory althouh it’s expandable up to 4GB microSD card which is included.
These social phones are the first mobile to use the Facebook social graph API making it easy for people to follow updates from the friends they interact with the most. Even at the first sight you probably wouldn’t notice that it’s based on Android. The homescreen is a visual Facebook feed for clicking through friend’s updates, pictures, videos and webpages. There are also one-touch links to Facebook Chat, Friends, Messages, Wall and Notifications, and more. And one more thing, INQ has also ditched Spotify client as the default music player with special access using a dedicated “Spotify” key.
The INQ Cloud Touch will be available in Q2 2011, while the INQ Cloud Q will be available on Q3 2011, both only at The Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy.
