Microsoft Windows Phone 7 handsets sale have been started on Monday which is available from AT&T and T-Mobile retailers accross the United States. One of the concern of people was that there wouldn’t be enough apps to support the Windows Phone 7 platforms like what happened to webOS at the first time it’s launched. But Microsoft have confirmed on Monday in a post on The Windows Phone Developer Blog that the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace now hosts approximately 2,000 apps and games compatible with Windows Phone 7. This number is nearly double the target set by Microsoft last month.
Microsoft also said that the Marketplace is now fully open for application submissions. So with around 13,000 registered developers in 30 supported markets, the number of apps and games on the Marketplace is expected to increase. So that’s the good sign for the Windows Phone 7 team and it’s really interesting to see how Microsoft can battle the domination of the Apple App Store and Android Market.
