Here’s another great news for Android users. Sony Ericsson is said to deliver Android 3.0 based PSP like smartphone as early of October this year. Reportedly, the device will look like a combination of a Samsung Captive with PSP Go. It’s a landscape slider with game controls in place of the typical QWERTY keyboard. The device will carry the Xperia branding, but also will include Playstation branding as well. So what’s the name of the device would be?
From hardware perspective, the phone has a large screen between 3.7 and 4.1-inches with WVGA or better resolution, 5MP camera and 1GHz Snapdragon CPU. The slide-out game pad featuring the D-pad, a long touch pad for analog controls and the standard Playstation/PSP buttons. But so far there’s no info about the network supports yet. Below is the mock-up picture of the device made by Engadget.

But the interesting part is probably from the software side where Sony Ericsson and Google is working together to bring Android 3.0 into the device with a custom skin and a new area of the Android Market specifically for the games including those famous titles such as God of War, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and Little Big Planet. These games will be initially available only for the SE/PS devices. However it could be made available for other Android devices if it meets the hardware requirements including the specs and button layouts.
It reminds us of the Nokia N-Gage isn’t it? So, what do you think. Is it going to be a huge win for Google and the Android? It’s all depends on Sony Ericsson to make this really comes to reality.
