Today i have seen so many people updated their Twitter status reporting the live update from the first batch of iPhone 4 launch. Some of them have received their iPhone 4 but most of them are still lining up. According to some speculations, Apple could sell 1 million unit of iPhone 4 today. However can you guess how many of them know that there are some hardware issues reported recently regarding the iPhone 4 new design.
To refresh your mind let’s take a look at the quick brief of the iPhone 4′s known hardware issues. Some sources have posted the explanation to these issues but so far there’s no official statement yet from Apple.
The glass panel can be scratched and shattered – The iPhone 4′s front and back panel is made from chemically-strengthened Gorilla Glass instead of plastic like previous iPones. Some tests made recently reported that this glass is certainly not scratch-proof. Moreover it can be shattered like spiderweb if you drop it. So if you intend to buy the iPhone 4, you also better buy screen protector and special iPhone case in order to protect the phone.
Yellow bands or bloches on the retina display – Several iPhones reported have something like yellow bands or bloches in the bottom of the screen. A speculative statement was posted on Apple Insider’s forum explaining about this case:
Apple is using a bonding agent called Organofunctional Silane Z-6011 to bond the layers of glass. Apparently, Apple (or more likely Foxconn) is shipping these products so quickly that the evaporation process is not complete. However, after one or two days of use, especially with the screen on, will complete the evaporation process and the yellow “blotches” will disappear.
How do I know? I was involved in pitching Z-6011 to Apple.
Signal dropped when antenna band is held – The third issue reported is regarding the new antenna design of the iPhone 4. The signal is somehow dropped from full bars to next to none when the phone is held around the area where the antenna is located. Engadget also said it might happen most frequently when it’s held in the left hand and skin touches the area where the BT/Wi-Fi/GPS antenna meets the GSM/UMTS antenna.
That are the issues reported so far and we don’t know if there will be more issues to come. But for sure seems like many people are enjoying their iPhone 4 now.

[...] most possible reason for this is the time-span since the antenna issues until the expected launch of the CDMA iPhone which is January 2011 is somehow incredibly short [...]
