Follow the South Africa 2010 WorldCup from Your iPhone

The kick-off of the South Africa 2010 WorldCup is just few days to go. If you are a football mania and an iPhone owner, that’s a good chance to follow any updates directly from the WorldCup event. However i’m not saying you can’t do that if you have another phones, of course you can. But as an iPhone owner i use one of these apps to follow the updates from the event. And it’s interesting for me since one of them now is in the top 10 Free Apps in App Store.

The name of the app is “South Africa 2010 tracker” from Mubaloo. Basically the app has the following features:

  • Information about the matches of the competition (times, cities, venues, real-time scores)
  • Shake to download the most recent information about the matches
  • Countdown
  • Rotate your iPhone/iPod Touch to see a general view for the second stage
  • See a list of all the venues and see all the matches played in each one
  • Matches times are set to your time zone

However i don’t really like this app since it doesn’t provide a complete information. But it’s not a secret that people always want something FREE. As for me, i use the other apps called “The World Cup“. I costs me $2.99 but i think it worth of the money since i can get more information. This app has the following features:

  • A full listing of teams sorted into Groups A to H with World Cup statistics, a complete squad listing for each team with every player, their age, squad number, domestic team and link to Wiki Mobile biography
  • All 8 groups, showing each group match. Rotate the device to landscape while viewing a group for a full screen league table
  • A complete fixtures list shows data for every game
  • A list of all the venues for the tournament including details and statistics about each venue
  • A direct RSS feed from FIFA.com for all the latest news as it happens
  • A top scores list for the race to the Golden shoe, and many more..

So i think that’s fair enough. You can get the free app but less features, and pay for some money to get more features. Anyway, hope you enjoy the WorldCup 2010!
