Like what we have reported before, the Nokia N97 mini is officially announced today as the companion to the existing Nokia N97 at the first day of the Nokia World Event in Stutgart, Germany. The Nokia N97 mini features new software to include new home screen widgets and flick scrolling. Together with the N97 mini, Nokia also announces Lifecasting with Ovi, the first application to let people publish their location and status updates directly to their Facebook account from the home screen of a mobile device. The Nokia N97 mini is expected to begin shipping in October 2009 for an estimated retail price of EUR 450 before taxes and subsidies.

The specs of the Nokia N97 mini is exactly the same with the current N97 except for the internal memory that’s reduced to 8GB. Below is the picture taken from one of a blog showing the comparison between the Nokia N97 and the Nokia N97 mini. And looking at the picture, the Nokia N97 mini is not so much different than it’s brother.

Lifecasting with Ovi will be available for both the Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 mini via Nokia Beta Labs. While the new software for the Nokia N97 will be released in October as a free update.
