Remember when Google started the Android project? While preparing the Android OS they also conducted a contest called Android Developer Challenge for developers to build applications for Android platform and awarded the winners for amount of cash. This method has been a great success for Google and it’s Android until now. Today’s in similar way Microsoft is trying to the achieve the same success with their Windows Marketplace for Mobile through the contest called The Race to Market Challenge. And now they are accepting application submission from all 29 supported countries.
However unlike the Google Android Developer challenge who offers cash as the prizes, the Race to Market Challenge offers 4 Microsoft Surface tables (Developer Edition), online marketing and promotion of the application and challenge trophies for the mantle. Personally if i were a developer i would prefer to get the cash rather than those tables. The contest will run until Dec 31, 2009. Further details of the contest are available at http://mobilethisdeveloper.com
In addition see the following video campaign of the Race to Market Challenge contest.
