Opera Mobile 9.7 beta is now available for Windows Mobile touchscreen based phones. With the recently launched technology for faster surfing, Opera Turbo and the newly upgraded browser engine called Opera Presto 2.2 for faster page loads and better overall performance, the browser promises improvements in speed and performance. In addition, Opera Mobile 9.7 also gets you the Web content you want in fewer clicks and less time with the Opera Widget.
The Opera team has tested the Opera Mobile 9.7 on a Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 phone and the result shows a distinct performance gap compared to Opera Mobile 9.7 without Opera Turbo and Microsoft IE Mobile. However Opera Turbo in Opera Mobile is still in a preview-feature and has some known issues such as, downloads don’t work while Opera Turbo is enabled and some settings (such as toggle on/off images) do not apply when Opera Turbo is enabled.
