Research firm Strategy Analytics predicted that Android Phones will grow faster than iPhone in 2009. The shipments of phones running Google Android will increase 900% or 8 million Android phones compared to Apple’s device as the second-quickest but at a much smaller 79% growth rate to 23.8 million iPhones per year.
Now all top mobile phone vendors except Nokia have said they would use Android including the HTC Magic, Samsung i7500 and the many more. Neil Mawston, a director at Strategy Analytics said, “Android is now in a good position to become a top-tier player in smartphone over the next two to three years”. The relatively low-cost licensing model, its semi-open-source structure and Google’s support for cloud services have encouraged those companies to use Android on their devices.
